Montauk (MTP) FBO handling

A short strip with limited facilities, effectively seasonal. Light aircraft only. Confirm the aircraft, the hours and the services before planning anything here.

Montauk is a short strip at the very end of Long Island, and we would rather set expectations honestly than imply more than it is. Light aircraft only, limited facilities, and in practice a summer field. Its single advantage is location: nothing else lands closer to the Montauk docks, the surf or the lighthouse. For jets, Gabreski is forty minutes west with a 9,000 foot runway, and East Hampton sits between the two.

Briefing

What we plan around at MTP.

Local constraints we build into every delivery window — curfew, customs, slots, transit, and ramp access.

01

Light aircraft only.

A short strip. Confirm the aircraft before anything else, and expect Gabreski or East Hampton for a jet, with the drive east from there.

02

Seasonal in practice.

Montauk empties outside the summer. Confirm hours and available services rather than assuming the field is staffed the way it is in August.

03

What it is actually for.

Proximity. The docks, the surf, the lighthouse and the Montauk hotels are all minutes away, which no other field can offer.

04

Boat provisioning is the real market.

Montauk is a serious fishing and yacht port. Provisioning to a boat at the harbour is often the actual requirement, not cabin service, and it packs differently.

05

Weather at the end of the island.

Fog and wind arrive quickly out here, and a short strip is less forgiving of both. We keep timing flexible.

Local sourcing

Around MTP.

Montauk sourcing, which for once needs no qualification. This is one of the best fishing ports on the eastern seaboard and the fish comes off the boat.

Montauk landings.

Tuna, striped bass, fluke, swordfish and lobster, landed at the harbour and sourced the morning of. The reason to cater here at all.

East End farm stands.

Corn, tomatoes and stone fruit from the farms west of town at their brief peak.

Restaurant, house and boat sourcing.

Named dishes from Montauk kitchens, house provisioning, and delivery to a boat at the harbour, which is often the actual requirement.

Special diets and certification.

Kosher-style, halal, vegetarian, vegan, allergen and medical menus on 24-hour lead, with certification stated plainly rather than implied.

Common orders

What we usually pack out of MTP.

02Tuna and striped bass sourced off the dock the morning of
03House provisioning for a summer stay at the end of the island
04Light-aircraft cabin service on the short hop from the metro fields

The fish comes off the boat, which is the whole point of being here.

Step 01
Brief us.
Send the tail, the field, the passenger count and any dietary requirements by 4pm the day before. Same-day works from two hours.
Step 02
Menu confirmation.
We come back within the hour with a confirmed menu, sourcing notes, and anything we need to flag.
Step 03
Sourced off the dock.
In season we buy at the harbour the morning of and pack to hold through the heat. Out of season we are honest about what is actually available out here.
Step 04
Delivered to the strip or the harbour.
Cabin service to the field. Boat provisioning to the dock, which is more often what is wanted. If the aircraft cannot use the strip, we deliver to Gabreski or East Hampton instead.
FAQ

FAQ

No. It is a short strip suited to light aircraft. Jets use Gabreski, which has a 9,000 foot runway, or East Hampton, and drive east from there.

In practice it is a summer field. Confirm hours and services rather than assuming the field operates in January the way it does in August.

Yes, and here that is often the real requirement. Montauk is a serious fishing and yacht port, and dock provisioning is quoted separately from cabin service.

Montauk landings. Tuna, striped bass, fluke, swordfish and lobster, off the boat and sourced the morning of.
